ingredient spotlight: pumpkin seed oil and how it benefits your skin
This time of year it’s pumpkin everything! From PSL’s to pumpkin smelling candles and we couldn't be more on board with that. But did you know that pumpkin is also highly beneficial to your skin too? That’s why we picked it as one of the cold-pressed organic oils we use in our Citrus Illuminating Raw Beauty Oil.
A little bit about the process.
There are several methods to extracting the oil from the pumpkin seeds. The method we use for the seed oil that goes into our Raw Beauty Oil is called cold-pressing. During cold pressing, the seeds go through a heavy press (just like the name says) and out comes the oil. Unlike other methods that involve chemicals or heat, this process ensures that the nutritive value, aroma, flavor etc of the seeds remain 100% intact.
Here’s what happens when you put velvety pumpkin seed oil on your skin.
- Improves acne prone and oily skin. It helps to regulate natural oil production. Also, it’s high zinc content helps to reduce inflammatory acne and scarring
- Protects against environmental stressors. Vitamin E and other antioxidants help to protect the skin from UV damage and damage caused by free radicals.
- Tighter skin + increased brightness and firmness. Due to the high level of carotenoids in pumpkin seed oil
- Deeply moisturizes. Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids penetrate the skin deeply and help the skin to retain moisture. Moisturized skin is slower to visibly age.
