Adding Coconut Oil To Your Beauty Routine

By Lindsey Diamond

Coconut Oil has long been shunned as a health food due to its high content of saturated fatty acids. That is, until rather recently. Researchers, doctors and the likes of many health professionals are discovering the numerous benefits of the tropical fatty oil. Latest studies on 100% Natural Coconut Oil have shown it to be effective in promoting weight loss, reducing unhealthy cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of diabetes, boosting immunity, and preventing alzheimers.

Coconut Oil has an unusually high amount of medium chain fatty acids which makes it difficult for our bodies to store as fat and easier to burn off than long chain fatty acids (think animal fat, dairy).

Ofcourse, not all coconut oil is created equal. The partially hydrogenated, over processed coconut oil is absolutely terrible for you promoting many health concerns such high cholesterol, weight gain, etc. When selecting coconut oil its best to buy 100% Virgin Coconut Oil.

I think you get the picture that adding coconut oil to your diet can be a good thing. But did you know that it can also be incredibly beneficial to add to your beauty routine? I am all about “the simpler, the better” when it comes to getting ready. If I can find One product that does it all, and is Healthy and produces results I want I am all over it. Go into my bathroom and you will find a jar is 100% Virgin Organic Coconut Oil (food grade ofcourse). I also use a lot of products with the main ingredient got it…Coconut Oil.  Here’s what I do with it:

  1. My hair: I slather coconut oil on my hair at night when I know I am going to wash it the next day. Typically after I shower, I will take a scoopful and let it melt right in my hands. Then I rub it through my hair from scalp to ends. You can braid your hair or loosely tie it up as it is an oil as it can be messy. You might even want to lay an extra sheet over your pillow if you are worried about the oil seeping through. The Coconut oil does several things: it serves as a hair conditioner, it helps to lock moisture into your hair preventing dryness, and it aids in reducing protein loss.
  2. My skin: Lotions can be absolutely terrible for you. They contain so many fillers, toxins, and petroleum based chemicals that clog pores, suffocate your skin and damage your health. Not to mention, many body lotions contain a large percentage of water which may initially feel like its doing the “moisturizing thing”; but once it dries your skin it’s left flaky and un-nourished. I use Coconut Oil in place of those nasty lotions instead. After exfoliating and showering, simply scoop a handful out of the jar and apply liberally all over your body. Coconut oil provides real moisture. It helps to strengthen underlying skin layers and leaves skin soft and supple.
  3. My makeup: I am so in love with Araza’s 7-1 Coconut Creme Foundation. Not only does it provide the coverage I want, but it has tremendously changed the texture and overall quality of my skin. Not to mention, I no longer breakout from my makeup! Made with 100% Organic and Non GMO Coconut Oil extract this foundation nourishes, heals and protects delicate skin. I remembering longing for my days absent from work and school so that I could skip wearing makeup to let my skin breath. I no longer feel that way. I even skip my moisturizer now and go directly to Araza’s Coconut Creme Foundation. It provides all of the same benefits of a moisturizer and is just one less step:)  Before I decided to start Araza I searched far and wide for a product like this. Something that was comprised of predominately organic ingredients with absolutely nothing artificial. I found nothing that was TRULY organic and provided buildable coverage...until now of course. Araza’s 7-1 Coconut Creme Foundation.

So go buy yourself a big jar of 100% Organic Coconut Oil and try out Araza’s 7-1 Coconut Creme Foundation. Your skin will thank you!
